I just bought an ultraportable laptop with no optical drive. I'm fine with that but I'd like to be able to connect the two at my desk occasionally to use the optical drive on my desktop. Also, I'd like to be able to transfer files between the two. I was thinking along the lines of a null-modem cable or something? I'm sure there's a newer solution to this problem though. Thanks for your help!

Somebody at Insight Broadband told me that to get their service, I had to buy a computer modem for it. They said I could buy one from them or get it myself, but the only thing I've found is called a broadband router. Is it the same? Also, does anybody have any advice on the modem from them? Is it of good quality or should I buy my own?

Thanks

It takes forever to go back to about two weeks ago to find questions that no one answered. What I have been doing is picking a subject then scrolling down and clicking on the number below to go back. It take ages to reach even five hours ago. Is there any other way? There are lot of good questions being ignored and stupid ones with a ton of answers. Well maybe this is a stupid question that will not be answered.

I've got two computers using XP, one Pro, one Home. The Home is connected directly to my router at 100Mb. The Pro is connected through 802.11g and runs anywhere between 36Mb and 54Mb. I'm transferring 140GB of data from Pro to Home, and my network utilization never gets above 30%. Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

Both have static IPs, if it makes a difference.

I own 40 Windows 2000 User CALs. I want to upgrade to 2003 SBS and want to know if I can bring up existing CALs with me. I'm having the hardest time determining if my existing CALs will work or if there is a path that I can upgrade them to SBS CALs. I have read that SBS CALs are different because SBS includes not only Windows 2003 Server, but also Exchange, SQL and ISA Server.

Thanks for the help!
