actually i just got the ADSL connection at home and I got the wireless modem...the modem extends to a very wide range and I don't want the neighbors to tak the advantage of that connection...so that i want to know the exact steps to limit the connection..I know that it might be relevant to a secuity certificate or something like that...I have my university network security certificate but i didn't know how to utlize it for home connection.....my system is win XP home edition...I will be thankful if you can show me the exact steps ?

basically all you need to do is setup a username and password protect on your router. you can do this usually through the network connections in your control panel. whatever your router came with (software wise) you should have at one point entered your username and password info in order to first hook everything up? go back into your settings for the connection itself and there should be a tab that says something like password authenticate or something and click that. that way the only way someone else can use your wireless is if they have the username and password first.

I don't have your specific network options, but the pat answers, (check your books for how) are to, 1. enable 128 bit WEP encryption for the wireless hub and all connected computers-write your selected code down somewhere safe, 2. make your connection between PC's and the wireless hub shared authorization and set the wireless hub to be "invisible" after the other 2 are completed and tested as working. That should do it.

In addition to setting up WEP, you may be able to do mac-address filtering. This would also protect you from somone guessing your wep key
