Currently my real name is showing and not my Yahoo ID,,Yahoo server was and has been playing up a lot lately,so I downloaded messenger 8.for 5 or more hrs, I could not log on to YIM,so is that people that see me at their IM windows as they know me by?I have chatted with a few friends today, that it their end and nor my end

Yahoo messenger had a service outage today, that's why you couldn't log in for 5+ hours. It's all fixed now.
Your real name is showing because you have your real name in yahoo address book so the messenger client is smart enough to match that with your yahoo id. This is just for display purpose, it doesn't affect the way you communicate with your friends in any form. Your friend will see your real name if they have it in their address book. If not they'll still see your yahoo id only.
