I have a 2WIRE router connected to my PC with SBC Yahoo DSL. I purchased a laptop and would like to set it up for wireless. I got a wireless card for the laptop, but do I need to download SBC Yahoo DSL to the laptop for it to work? Will I need to order a disk from SBC to download it? Help????

verify how your community connection is configured. Is it set up to obtain an IP handle without delay? Assuming it truly is, the issue might want to be that your DSL provider is seeing the hot laptop with it is new MAC identity. once you plug it in and it does no longer tournament the MAC identity of the device that you setup your provider with, the ISP ASSUMES someone is making an attempt to hijack the relationship and refuses you provider. it truly is the reason routers have the flexibility to "clone MAC identity" as an determination. try utilising your old laptop. in case you'll get entry to the internet, you'll get a router and clone the MAC identity (the perfect answer for safe practices besides) or call your ISP and function them reset the relationship so it accepts the hot MAC identity only be prepared, your old laptop might want to no longer artwork after the replace until eventually the ISP accepts numerous machines.
