I have a Tecra 8200 from Toshiba. It's been a pretty good laptop since I have had it. Almost had it a year and a half. About 7 months into ownership, I noticed that the monitor starts to flicker and then become dim. This happens when I run it from the battery or plugged in. I can close the top and re-open it and everything will be bright again for about 30 to 45 minutes then it goes dim again. If I turn it off and let it set (or gently tap the side of the computer top) the screen will brighten back up like no problems. Any idea what's causing this? If the monitor goes out, can you replace them? Need serious answers. Thanks

i have an inspiron e1501 from dell.
i bought the laptop at about $800 dollars in january, and my father dropped it by accident. now the screen is destroyed.
i called the dell people and the woman said it would cost about 500 dollars (without tax) for the repairs and would take about 10 days for me to get it back.
after checking online, i see that my laptop is now for $499.
should i just buy a new one?

hi i have windows XP SP2, my motherboard is Asus M2R-FVM and right now i have a radeon xpress 1150 (is those which u cant pick up from the motherboard) and i have bought a PowerColor Radeon X1650 256MB DDR2 PCI-Express, 2xDVI-I/Tv-Out and want to install....

so how to do it? should i uninstall my oroginal radeon first and shut the pc down, put the new graphic card to the slot and then start the pc? or is it better way to do it?

i would be pleased if u could tell me step by step.

When I turn on my computer, the monitor stays blank. It will flash green for a few seconds then red, blue, white then black, over and over. There is no display, only colors. Before that happened it was just blank (black). Could this be the monitor or is it the connection between hard drive and monitor? Also,
when I turn it off and on it displays "monitor going to sleep"
for a few seconds. If anyone could give advise, it would gladly be accepted.

I've tried to create partitions of several sizes, including the entirety of the drive. Nothing works. I've used Windows XP's Computer Management, and I've used Partition Magic. Nothing works.

I really don't want to spend more money on an external hard drive, so any guidance would be most appreciated.

And, just to be clear, the drive no longer is under warranty. But I used it maybe once before this happened.

My computer has been restarting for the past week and I am wondering what the problem is.
This happens usually when im on the web either watching videos or playing online games. It has never restarted when I play Counter Strike Source or Maple Story.
I recently updated my video card driver, cleaned out my computer of dust and even put on new thermal paste on my cpu heatsink.

I check the heat on my cpu using SpeedFan and it says that my cpu is idle at 69C and Core1,Core2 are at 80C. I am using the stock fan for Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHZ and I have an Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT Video Card.

I have always had Sony Computers and was able to turn my home movies into dvd'd with a programme on it called Click to Dvd. All I need to do was to plug in the video camera to a usb port and the programme started up and it did the rest it's self. I now have a Packard Bell Pc and have absolutley no idea where to start or if there is such a programme I can download. Can anyone help as I have a few tapes of my daughter dancing and would really like to get them onto disc

When I try to play a flash video, whether it be from google video, youtube, cnet tv, reviews.. etc, the video will play for 2 seconds, and then freeze.

I can forward to a different part of the video, and it still will play for 2 seconds, and then freeze again.


This is very very annoying. I have reinstalled flash player, and made a new profile on mozilla.


could this be because I upgraded form XP to VISTA?

I also already uninstalled flash, tested the registry (via ccleaner), reinstalled flash, and nothing happened.
