So which type of 1gb memory do i need. Its for my dell inspiron 531desktop. I think my pc has 4 slots. So can you please tell me which 1gb memory i need and is it easy to install the memory into the slot. I want 2gb of memory overall. After installing the memory into slot, do i need to set up anything in my pc. And how much will a 1gb memory cost for the one which i need. Please help.

Go to the following link, http://www.crucial.com/uk they can do an on line check which will determine which ram your motherboard supports. They will recommend the optimum amount. You can order on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for good ram. They guarantee compatibility with your motherboard and give an excellent warranty.They lso give fitting instructions. I have used them many times and always been satisfied. Hope this helps.

You need the memory you mention in the question. And make sure you have 4 slots and not just "think".
