I feel like this is a silly question, but I've never really owned a laptop before, and I'm making a rather large purchase of one with a Terrible battery life - highest rated on Cnet though, battery life is the only problem. Can I just turn off the computer and switch out the battery for a fully charged one? Like.. carry around 2-3 batteries, especially on trips or long carrides.

OK, in plain english, can someone tell me if it is possible for me to view what is on my computer monitor on my TV? I have some videos on my computer I want to watch full-screen on my TV. The computer and TV are about 3 feet from each other. I have no idea what jacks or plugs or whatever they're called I have, so if you can tell me EXACTLY what I need and where to get it, that would be awesome. Thanks!

I have a problem with a near-new computer. Somehow I got a self-replicating spyware or virus that is hidden itself in the Windows Temp folder and keeps growing more files. It has been classified by all my security software as "Adware." I ran my antivirus and spyware programs (BitDefender, SpySweeper and other free spyware/virus programs I have) and nothing seems to get rid of it. CCleaner can't delete these files either. I think that either BitDefender or SpySweeper tried to quarantine the suspect virus or spyware and was unable to. If I right-click on any of these files and click "delete" I get "Can't read from source file or disk." Every time I have tried to re-run the scans, the files have duplicated themselves. At this point I am up to about 1,000 files and over 200MB. They are all in the C:\Windows\Temp folder so I think I can safely delete them. Does anybody know a program or utility I can use to force delete these files? Please let me know. Thank you for your help!

Hi, i have recently sold 2 games on ebay, uk. They were both on buy it now, 5 day auction, with a gallery picture and one picture.

They were both on at 24.99, with 1.50 delivery and the charge for putting the auction on ebay was ( as usual ) 30-40 pence,
Yet when both of the items sold i was charged another £2.16 each!!!!!!!!!

Has ebay overcharged me? If so how should i approach ebay with this problem, if not why am i charged a large sum when the item is sold.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I am upgrading the RAM. It currently has two sticks of DDR 256MB @333MHz (PC2700).

Which of these three setups would be best:

1. 2 sticks of DDR 256MB @ 333MHz (PC2700)
and
2 sticks of DDR 512MB @ 400MHz (PC3200)

2. 2 sticks of DDR 256MB @ 333MHz (PC2700)
and
2 sticks of DDR 512MB @ 333MHz (PC2700)

3. 2 sticks of DDR 512 @ 400MHz (PC3200)


I plan to use this computer for playing games. Please tell me which of the three above setups would work best for my computer. Do not tell me to upgrade to a higher frequency of RAM, because this is not possible with my motherboard. Do not tell me to upgrade to DDR-2 RAM because that is also not possible.

Yes, I know that I am about the only person to still use a typewriter. I also know that typewriter ribbons are still manufactured. But as I imagine that one day in the forseeable future they won't be, is it possible to simply soak them in ink in order to make them usable again?

Windows XP. Linksys WRT54G.

When my internet cable is plugged directly into my computer from the wall, my computer obtains an IP address and connects to my browser no problem.

When I plug the cable from the wall into my router and then from the router into the computer, it also obtains a IP address, says I'm connected but my browser will not work. This also happens when I connect to it wirelessly.

So basically, when I go directly from the modem to my computer my internet works fine, but when I go through to router, it says it's connected (Internet and WLAN light are both on as well on the router) and has IP address but the browser will not work.

I've tried so many things, PLEASE HELP!!!

I messed up ! I was printing something from the census and I highlighted the page I wanted to print, when that page was done [ because I did not want to print 300 pages] I pushed off. Then a few minutes later I tried to print something else It won't print ! I can copy that will work. I tried control panel kind of lost there. There is an icon that says 6 docs are pending for owner. OK when you get done laughing Please Help !
