When i plug in the POWER CORD to the back of my CASE the computer just turns on automatically without me pressing the ON button.

What coud be wrong with it?

I'm trying to publish a technical manual. Currently it's about 500 pages. I'm using Microsoft Publisher, but because of the size I have to break it into 7 different files, all of which are huge Mb-wise (20Mb each) and slow my computer down. And are a pain to try and print and match page numbers. I've tried using Microsoft Word, but it screws up the formatting badly and it's difficult to work with for what I need. I've tried Adobe Acrobat, but it seems highly unintuitive. And I need to be able to edit this later.

It seems to me there should be a simpler way of doing this.
What kind of program do the professionals use?

At the moment I have the equipment to do small runs (like 5 manuals at a time, and I'm not expecting to need much more.) But if I need to, what would a publishing company expect the file format to be in?

I spent 5 hrs. on a spreadsheet and after I thought I saved it I can't seem to find it. I've tried a search but to no avail. At the time I saved it I had an older spread sheet opened and when I tried to close that one I recieved a "Do you want to save changes" message. Since I made no changes to that document I clicked NO and I think they both closed. What did I do wrong and where is the new document?

I have a hard drive of 40GB. but the windows installed on my computer shows less than 40GB(almost 38GB). Can anybody tell me why it happens? It also happens with the USB Flash Drive.

My sims got deleted off my computer and i sold the games. I really wanna play so does anybody know what site i can get them for free off of? I want the original sims, not sims 2. Just the original with expansion packs if you know where thanks so much.

I have an older brother that has a program on his computer that can find out what website i am currently on. and, you know the History toolbar on top of the internet? well, the history from that toolbar transfers into my older brother's internet history instead. In other words, the history on my internet transfers automatically and immediately into my brother's computer. and he can do the same with my chatting online. he can see what i'm typing to send to my friends, and what my friends send back. How do i get my history back from my brother? i don't want my brother's computer to be knowing what websites i go to. So the basic question is: How do i start getting history inside my History toolbar again? or how do i put some kind of private force-field around my internet session? I NEED SOMEONE'S HELP. ..but at last steps of making vdo,it cant burn.it asking FORMAT NAME.I wrote dvd(2 hour),because i have dvd+R TYPE DVD recorder(cd) by which i want to save this vdo film.But I dont Know Why it is not burning.The time length of film is 58 min.

I've built my own login system for a local small business who offers internet for free for the 1st half hour. It works perfectly, and it's okay the way it is, but I want to take it 1 step more. I want to place an algorithm that is date dependent in it. For the password, here's what I was thinking:

if '%choice%'=='%date% + 100 / 2' GOTO successful login

Now, I know that ^ will probably give me something other than what I want. What I want to do is remove the /s (8/22/07 would then be 82207) and add an equation to it.

The reason that I want to do this is so that it would be fairly hard to crack (they only charge $6/hour, so nobody's going to bring out the big guns) and there wouldd be a new password each day without making manual changes.

I have no idea if this is possible with a batch file. After the login is verified as correct, I want it to start another specified batch file. Please, if you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm a volunteer programmer

So yeah. I sent someone an email that I HAVVVEEE to erase before they see it. Or else........I'm dead. Is it even remotely possible to cancel and email even after it says it's been sent? If not, whhat is the best way to figure out someones email password? I would be so so so eternally greatful if anyone can help me.

I've had Windows XP on my main desktop computer since it came out. I also have a desktop computer for my kids that is running Windows 98. I have reformatted my main computer and reinstalled Windows XP multiple times. If I upgrade my main computer from XP to Vista, is there a way to legally install my copy of Windows XP on my kids computer?

The tricky part is that I've already activated it too many times and the hardware is different. If I paid for the software, shouldn't I have the right to continue using it regardless of which computer I use it on or how many times I reinstall it?

Every once in awhile I accidentally press the Sleep/Hibernate button on my keyboard (it has a moon by it). My computer powers down and the power button flashes with an amber light. My problem is I can't get the computer to start back up when this happens. I press the power button, I press and hold the power button, I press all the keys on the keyboard, nothing works. I have to unplug the power cord to get the damn thing running again. Any suggestions?

What do I do when I want to upgrade but I have over $3000 dollars invested in a machine that is outdated. I've tried to sell it for a quarter of that but no luck. Then I see these dell's and HP's that people sell for $800 that hails in conparison to my computer.
