I'm a musician who uses finale, pro tools, and garageband. Along with it I store thousands of songs in itunes. I will also need to use it for school work and the internet. I want to get some opinions on whether to buy the macbook pro, or the brand new iMac.

I need to make a Hangman game that only does one 5 letter word. This word, however, needs to be able to be changed by the user easily at the top of the code. So far I have the word divided into characters like this

final char LETTER1='h', LETTER2='o', LETTER3='u', LETTER4='s', LETTER5='e';

And I have a switch for each of the letters. This way makes it difficult to change the word because you have to change the letters in the declarations as well as in the switch. Any suggestions about what I could do?

I want to buy a laptop but he only problem is my friends keep telling me to get a Mac computer and they have never owned one themselves a day in there life; Nor do they know anyone that owns one.

So I was just wondering if anyone could answer this question:
Why does everyone pefer a Mac computer over an average everyday ordinary one that has just the same amount of memory (or more) and by the way is cheaper than a Mac?

Thank you for answering!! I greatly appreciate it.

It's a terrible, terrible processor. I mean think about it. It has a more reduced instruction set than most Risc processors but it's a Cisc processor. OMG!!! Why do people like it so much? The 65C816 has an instruction set with way more complex instructions and it's still Risc. If you're smart you would know that (reduced instruction set)+(Cisc arcitecture)=(really bad processor)

65C816 could add two registers in one cycle
it takes eight cycles for 68000 to do that

65C816 could load in a number and use that as an adress for another number and use that as an address for a number to be loaded in using only one instruction, 68000 uses two instructions to do that. You call that a more complex instruction set?

I was wondering what it's for.
It pops out if you want it to, and it's got these three different sides holes in it.
The symbol for it is this rectangular box that's supposed to look like it's moving.

Does anyone know what it's for?
I'm thinking memory cards and such, but I'm definitely not sure...

I have a GBA emulator (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a program that allows you to play Gameboy Advance games on your PC.) Anyway, there is an option on the program where you can record AVI movies of the game you're playing. I've seen where many people have recorded parts of their games and put them on Youtube, so I thought I would give it a try. I successfully recorded a video of about a minute and 15 seconds or so and played it on Windows Media Player with no problem. However, once I put it on Youtube, the video was about 15 seconds long, cut out most of the video, and was playing about 2 or 3 times faster than it should've. Is there any way I can put the video on Youtube but make it play regularly?

I've had my fair share of pc problems including viruses, trojans, spyware, and adware despite having paid for virus and antispyware protection, so much that I replaced my last computer just 2 years ago, and the replacement so far has cost me $300+ in repairs cumulatively. So, I told the technician repairing my computer that I'd get a Mac next time around despite the extra cost, and he tried to convince me not to because he said the operating systerm is hard to learn or something like that. He said that if you learned on a pc, it's harder to switch over to a Mac and the repairs cost more than for a pc. He's just one of a few IT people I've spoken to who downplay the Mac. Is it because he/they are looking out for his/their business? Or is there a genuine reason for not going for a Mac if you can afford it? I'm basically a novice computer user so I don't know if there are some obvious reasons why a Mac wouldn't be a good choice. Any ideas? Thanks.
