I'm a musician who uses finale, pro tools, and garageband. Along with it I store thousands of songs in itunes. I will also need to use it for school work and the internet. I want to get some opinions on whether to buy the macbook pro, or the brand new iMac.

get the macbook pro. it is more then enough to handle what u want to do with it.

If you dont want to be able to take a laptop and sit in bed or take it on trips then GO WITH THE iMACS. There are so sick. You will have a larger screen for editing and a larger hd for music and pro apps take up a lot of room also. Anything with a core 2 duo over 2.2 is SO fast so I would go with the 2.2 or 2.4 for what ever you choose. The new iMac have all good review and sadly being a macbook pro owner they are AWESOME but there are some negitives to them. Don't get my wrong I am not saying iMacs are perfect (but they are close to it.)

I just got the MacBook Pro. Mainly because I need to do a lot of video work and need a portable platform. It has been nothing but heaven working with this machine... if heaven gets hot once in a while.

if your going to work most of your time at home, imac definitely
