If it is CD-RW , you can format it to reuse.

You can't once a regular CD is burned it cannot be reused. I think what you are talking about is a CDRW. CDRW are reusable because they have many layers that the burner can reuse, but not indefinitely at sometime the CD cannot be reused again. I think the total on a CDRW is 5 times. Regular blank DVD's cannot be reused again. Fortunately there are such things as DVD RW and usually followed by a + or - sign.

You go out and buy a blank, once they're written, that's that for them.
