First you must observe the fact that AT&T/Yahoo and Road Runner offer two different types of Internet connections.

AT&T/Yahoo is a DSL service to which you must have a phone line in order to have service. The Elite package will give you between 3Mbps to 6Mbps depending on the distance you are from the Central Office.

Road Runner offers Cable service to which you do not need a phone line in order to have the service. Depending on the package, Road Runner offers up to 10Mbps; however, this depends on the amount of traffic generated by the neighborhood as it goes through a switch/repeater then to Road Runner.

If I were to choose, I'd go with AT&T/Yahoo DSL. They offer some great packages and in my area they have been superb on speeds. The technical support may be a pain if you get someone who has a difficult time understanding/speaking English; however, they have several individuals capable of resolving problems in a timely manner. My experience with Road Runner Customer Service is minimal.

Hope, this helps you out.

DSL is too prone to service interruptions in my experience. I would go with, or stick with, cable Internet access.

People who dislike cable might say "but you are sharing bandwidth with other cable subscribers in your vicinity". Although technically correct, I don't have much trouble with decreased efficiency of service and I highly doubt you would, either.
