I am looking to buy a laptop. I have the option of buying with Vista or XP pro. It seems to me that there is not much excitement about Vista. With that, I assume that the world is moving in that direction. What do you think is the best operating system for my laptop?

I am a college student getting ready to go back to school, and I need a laptop computer. My problem however, is that I do not have enough credit (not that I have bad credit). I haven't had enough purchases to build it. So Iam looking for a program in which I can pay low monthly with no credit checks. I have a job! I have already tried Dell, HP, Toshiba, but they have all rejected me. I went to My Computer Club, but Ive never heard of them and they seem to good to be true! Also I heard Blue Hippo was a hoax! Ive also tried Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Sams and again rejected! Any suggestions?

I currently have a macbook with tiger osx and wanted to install parallels desktop. I would have to pay for that software and buy windows xp since i do not have an installation cd. That would be around 200$ plus 80$

How much would purchasing the leopard version be and installing that into my mac??

Should i wait till leopard comes out or should I go ahead and get parallels?

When I download digital sheet music, it always presents as a GIF file(well, that's what it was originally). But I was told that GIF files take up a lot of space, so is it all right for me to save the sheet music as a JPEG or a JPG? will it damage the original contents?

pros and cons of JPEG/JPG(what's the difference???) and GIF pictures? I never really understood it.

I have the above laptop specs are not good 2.66 P2 proceesor 64 Mb ram non upgradeable running XP sp2,
I only use this for reading my mail and im getting a bit Kissed off at having to scroll across the screen to read my msgs as i cannot change screen size to full screen,
I have been told that i need to change or get another graphics driver,
This is where i would like some help plz.....
1) Where would i get a driver from and how would i know if it will work ?
2) How do i install it or run it ?

I'm buying my first laptop and will just use it for personal use. I want to spend less than $700. I saw this Gateway MX8738 at Best Buy today and it seemed great, but I couldn't find any reviews on the net. I got my pc in Dec (dual core 1gig) and at that time purchased the vista upgrade, but it wasen't released yet. When released got the vista home premium in the mail, and now am wondering if it will be worth losing some programs that dont recognize vista yet, and how much slower will my pc be? Help!

I recently upgraded from XP to Vista, and now I can't find my other documents.....pictures, docs, etc. I know there is a way to get all of the documents back, because I managed to get some of my pictures back, but not everything. Can someone please help!!!??? I hate this new Vista anyway, it made my computer slow, and I would rather XP.
