I am a college student getting ready to go back to school, and I need a laptop computer. My problem however, is that I do not have enough credit (not that I have bad credit). I haven't had enough purchases to build it. So Iam looking for a program in which I can pay low monthly with no credit checks. I have a job! I have already tried Dell, HP, Toshiba, but they have all rejected me. I went to My Computer Club, but Ive never heard of them and they seem to good to be true! Also I heard Blue Hippo was a hoax! Ive also tried Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Sams and again rejected! Any suggestions?

Thanks to all who suggested, but none of the options are availible, I have already asked my college, but they said they didnt do those programs. I cant ask a family member because Iam a ward of the state and in foster care so I have no family, and I cant get a regular credit card (discover, visa) because intrest is to high. But I will try the bank loan thing!

You could always just get a normal credit card, and purchase a computer on it. It may not give you the best interest rate since you are just starting out, but it will help build your credit as long as you make your payments on time. The best place to get one at is at your bank if they have one, as they already know you have a bank account with them, so they are more willing to approve you.
Another alternative, if available, is to go to a rental store that sells and rents computers on rent to own, as most will let you rent regardless of your credit, but the drawback is you won't increase your credit most of the time off of it, and after it is all said and done with, you end up paying triple to 5x more than what the system is worth from the start, which is how the places make their money.
Also, Check with your college, they may have programs to help people in situations like yourself.
Best of luck.

Well since you are rejected everywhere it seems see if you can find a family member to take the credit for you. That's what I had to do for my car after bankruptcy. Pay them the amount monthly and maybe keep it one month in advance incase you cant pay them for that month.
Second .. Stay away from DELL. Very horrible to fix.
Stay away from Futureshop IF you plan on doing upgrades. We would have to buy special expensive ram for my wifes computer all because it was a HP computer with HP special parts. A good way to rip you off and keep you buying thier products.
Also Many times places that sell PC specific brands dont carry say the RAM made for that machine. Hence my HP products I would have to buy from HP direct. I could upgrade the rest of it but not the ram.
Best bet though try a family member or friend taht is close. If you have no problems paying in the past it could work out for you. Watch out for places that do good deals as you may pay 2-3X the amount, be locked in for too long and regret it.

Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan(its an added advantage that you have no bad credit) should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school. Getting a laptop is not that hard and i think student loan is payable only after the student has completed his or her education, and has started earning a certain minimum amount. You can find more information on Student Loan here,
http://badcredits.awardspace.com/student-loans.htm
The minimum amount that the candidate of the bad credit student loan is required to earn has also increased. Bad credit student loans are available as both secured and unsecured loans-->depending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.

Get a new credit card. Buy the laptop with this credit card. Make reasonable monthly payments (i.e. significantly more than the minimum). You'll accomplish both getting the laptop and improving your credit outlook.
Also...don't buy anything else on this credit card!

I know what you are going through,go to your 'school' and ask them for help, they may have a program that will help you, stay away from the wal-mart,bestbuy ,blue hippo etc.Try gateway,if anyone will help it will be them, believe me,maybe you have a freind that will help,I do not know but you can get a good laptop for around $500 or so,if the school requires you to have one they should have the answers for you, good luck

Find out if your college has a purchase program. Also, there are some companies that lease computers on a month by month basis.
Good luck!

Have you tried getting someone that has good credit (or in your case-enough credit) to co-sign for you? That helped me to get my credit started! Good luck!
