Spybot Search & Destroy can Scan your computer for known Spyware and other mild threats. With the TeaTimer option, it can help to protect your Registry. But it is not a complete anti-virus solution.

Spybot Search & Destroy is a very good product for removing some spyware, but it won't help with a virus.
For that you might want to try AVG Free. I've been using it for years and it works great. Go here to get it...

Be sure to look for the free version if that's what you want.
Even the best anti-virus program can't make up for bad habits. Don't open attachments that you don't expect or are suspect. If you must open an attachment that you're not sure of, scan it before opening it. You know, just be cautious and practice a healthy skeptitism when it comes to the Internet and mail.

Spybot is targetted to get rid of spyware on the computer, so it wont take care of viruses. if you want a free virus protection program get AVG Free from the link I'm giving you. AVG also has a free spyware scanner so you can doublecheck Spybot.

I do not believe it prevents viruses but it is excellent for getting rid of them! Ad-aware is also great for getting rid of viruses.

No, it doesn't prevent viruses, but helps you to keep clean your PC from spy-ware, ad-ware and some other malware that can get installed.
It's a really great app.

No. It is used for after the fact. It can prevent you from going to suspected bad internet sites.

You only need one good virus protector. I like the free one I obtained free from AOL. It is Active Virus Shield. Good luck.

it helps to remove spyware ...its a good thing .. an actual virus u need an antivirus application to help prevent ... once a virus gets in if its a bad one a spyware remover isnt going to help you ...
