No, if you have a laptop, you need to open the bottom panel and replace the graphics chip. its a lot easier on desktops. id recommend finding a friend to do it for you

Yes, you can buy a "graphics card that just plugs into your computer". I had just started to hear about external graphics cards manufactued by nVidia, not really sure about ATI though. And would probably connect through a usb 2.0 port.
prices and where to find these things, im not really sure yet

there is a nvidia external graphics card shown @ ces a couple of years back, but it will not be out 4 a very long time. u also cannot upgrade the graphics card in the laptop.

The exist but are pointless since they would run over USB 2.0 which is nowhere near as fast as pci-e.
