yes .. whether or not it will play in a player is another story ... some players will play compressed formats like divx and xvid ...

You can. I use Nero 7 and can burn pretty much anything. As in previous posts, depending on what type of file it is, it might not be compatible with some players. The other nice thing about Nero is you can burn just about any file type to a DVD compatible format, so that it should play on any DVD. I routinely burn Divx (compressed .avi) to DVD with no problems and I can watch them on my DVD player, computer, even my XBox 360.

If you mean WMV (Windows Media Video), then you should, if you have a CD writer and you write it to a DVD disk. And if this is the right procedure (Writing it with Windows Media), it should play on a DVD player.

If it is a Windows Movie Maker file, and you cannot open it with Windows Media Player, then that means you have to save the file as a WMV, or and .avi file, or any file that can open with Windows Media. I hope this helps you.

Yes but don't expect to get a good picture compressed files don't produce the best quality.

Yes you can, though you will not be able to play a .wmv file in a normal DVD player. You'll still have to play it back on your computer.
