I got my pc in Dec (dual core 1gig) and at that time purchased the vista upgrade, but it wasen't released yet. When released got the vista home premium in the mail, and now am wondering if it will be worth losing some programs that dont recognize vista yet, and how much slower will my pc be? Help!

no if u have xp dont downgrade to vista .. bad move .. wait for a service pack .. and i would like one person to explain how going to vista is worth it .. its slower than xp on any given machine .. requires upgrading hardware to match xps' performance .. and is incompatible with existing drivers, hardware and software ... i guess if the candy coated interface counts then its better ...

I have 2 computers...one that has Vista and one that has XP. Although I am used to the XP computer, there are some nice features in Vista that keep me coming back to it. I am running a dual core laptop with Vista and it runs fine (no noticeable slowdown). Most programs will work fine in Vista, but there may be a couple random issues here and there, however they are usually the not famous programs. All the popular programs are Vista compatible.

I understand how you're feeling right now but you really should just let him do this on his own time. You're his wife, not his mother. Sometimes the more we nag, the more they retaliate so the best thing to do is just to keep quiet and don't say "I told you so" when he's having a hard time finding a job. He'll know you were right, you won't have to mention it. Next time, he'll have learned this valuable lesson and will be more prepared in the event he loses his job again. In the meantime, think positive. Maybe the threat to his job isn't as bad as you think. He knows his job better than you do. Seniority, department, ect all have an impact when a company starts laying people off. My husbands company used to lay people off every October and I would really worry about it, but he never did...he knew he was safe even though he always told me there was a slight chance he could get his papers. He was never even low enough on the list to get his hours reduced! Trust your husband.

I tried XP on my Moms laptop and compared to my Vista basic,Vista is a much better experience.I'm new to computers and I have a run of the mill PC.I did upgrade to 2GB RAM though, this helps alot with Vista.I think it'll be worth it to you to change.Goodbye!

don't install vista, if you do your going to have big problems,, and once you have installed vista your stuck with it,, check out all the complaints ppl are having since they've installed it,,,,

do some real research before you install it, pc magazines are warning readers not to install it until vista service pack 1 comes out in the middle of next year..

someone on here installed vista. then had problems, he/she decided to go back to XP, that was not allowed by MS,,, they would not give him/her another activation key... the choice is yours

You'll have to run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisory to see if your computer is compatible.

However, I think you should just stick to XP.

any program you did not specifically purchase for that computer is at risk to be unusable on that computer.

all thanks to windows verification.
