Computers & Internet - 14 October 2006

I am purchasing a laptop within 2 weeks. I would like to know what are the favorites out there. I am not going to be using it for much just school work, music, and maybe watch a movie here and there. Generally surfing and maybe quicken. I am looking at a Dell E1505 and possible an HP but I've heard bad things about HP and their current issues aren't helping. Also what is the Router and how does that work? Any suggestions. I will greatly appreciate.

Because my boyfriends ex-girlfriend just sent one to me (I'm not too sure though) and I think she's stupid and wrong. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, to be frank I don't like her either but I'm doing my best to be nice to her, But seriously it's getting me angry to know that I MIGHT have a virus on my comp. In the last month it has started having problems finding my primary and secondary drive. sometimes it works fine other times on the second or third try and like today it took eight trys before it located them.

Someone of Ebay (from overseas) bought a laptop, somehow used my Paypal account to purchase it. It was 1005.53 that was charged to my account, of course I don't keep that kind of money in my paypal so they used my back up funding which is my bank account. I filed for unauthorized debit at my bank and also filed with paypal and unauthorizd payment as well. Paypal did their 10 day investigation and put this money back in my account. So who does this money really go to? The bank tells me that they will send the money back and I won't get charged for it. They won't pay it since I filed unauthorized debit...so that part is taken care of. I'm just wondering why paypal put 1005.53 in my paypal account when I never had it in the first place! I downloaded virtual villagers with a crack off of limewire.It was a zipped file,so I unzipped it, found the set up,and installed the program.After an hour,the game shut off,and it said that my free trial was up.I went back and looked in the virtual villagers folder,and theres a file called 'nub'(when I click it,a pic showes up)other files also called nub but with a diffrent pic beside them,a file called crack,some kind of i.d. file,and I really don't know what I am supossed to do,so can some one please explain to me how a crack works?I would really like to play my game.

when my explorer freezes or won't open pages, I often have to go offline and start up the explorer again just to get it working. I have checked the tools and think everything is as it should be. I am not expert in this so I could need to do something simple that I just don't know about. thanks for your help.

I have a wireless internet installed in my house, and on one of the computers, there is some innappropriate internet surfing. I would like to disable only this computer from accessing the internet while still allowing the others to go on. Is there any way to do this without any software, such as through an IP address blocking, and how would i do this?

Yahoo answers told me to ask you, the general public this question. How do I enable the email option on Yahoo Answers? I was trying to email some one who chose my answer as the best answer to thank them, but could not do so because I do not have the email option enabled.
