In the last month it has started having problems finding my primary and secondary drive. sometimes it works fine other times on the second or third try and like today it took eight trys before it located them.
Can anyone tell my why?

This doesn't mean your mainboard got problem. Try removing other hardware connection one at a time (such as CD ROM, IDE1, IDE2, even mouse & keys) and try rebooting again. Other defective hardware also causes this thing to happen but the usual culprit is the CD-ROM. If it still got problem after doing all this then your mainboards IDE Controller may be having problem. You've got to change the mainboard.

The words "worked great for years" might have something to do with it. Nothing lasts forever, especially electronics and computer hardware. Maybe its time to think about upgrading to a newer system.

I have an Asus P5LD2 Delux, and I love it. You should get a new one.
