Because my boyfriends ex-girlfriend just sent one to me (I'm not too sure though) and I'm worried all my files and stuff on my computer is going to be ruined, or such. Please help me. Days like this really makes me wish I was a computer wiz. =(

It was a site link, that I had to download something, I don't know, but it wouldn't open with anything I opened it with. Oh please help me!

Mac CAN get a virus but it's VER unlikley. I doubt this one will harm your computer. I suggest deleting the file, and empting the trash.
If you downloaded the file and its called something like: "blah.exe" then it cant harm you mac at all. Mac's don't uses .exes

Yes, it is "possible" for a Mac to get a virus, but there's one problem... there isn't a single virus written for the Mac that's been released to the public. Chances are slim that this girl was able to find one of the rare "test" Mac viruses and then rewrote it to do any real harm and then sent it to you. If it's a typical virus, then it's for Windows and will not harm your system at all.

Delete the file and in the future try to be more cautious. The fact that you were afraid it was a virus should have been enough to tell you not to try several ways to open the file :)

while you're searching for something under $4 hundred then yeah. For something having to do with college artwork it is going to in all probability serve you ok. No, that is not any longer very reliable in any respect. A G5 quite isn't very reliable yet could be greater desirable than a g4. it could help in case you published the technical specifications. even however i'm getting greater desirable stuff I genuinely have an previous Win xp, pentium 4 single middle, 2.sixty six ghz. With 1gb of extremely crappy ram, and an previous 5200rpm 40gb ide perplexing force. Is is reliable? Heck no. Will it play the main present day pastime? genuinely no longer. Will it hook as much as severe velocity information superhighway and enable me run word processors, powerpoint, Excel, and photoshop? specific. So it nevertheless is clever. as long as this is going for use basically for college in case you may get a reliable deal it will be high-quality. notwithstanding it greater desirable be dirt low fee. do no longer assume anythig steller, and understand that mac is discontinuing help for it extremely quickly. for college artwork that ought to make no distinction.

Right. It shouldn't be a problem. Macs are great because they are unable to get viruses. Just have your OS to the highest update which is OS 10.4.8. Then send an email to your ex and say, I have the capabilities to make your computer jammed up so full of viruses it'll make your head spin!
Oh yeah, My 'friend' sent me a virus and I modified the virus to attack the HD of his Windows, delete all of his documents, corrode his data and mess his applications up. When he took it to wherever people go to solve problems with windows the girl who was working said "I think we should update our virus software again, FAST!"

Macs are able to get get viruses, but it's highly unlikely..

Your laptop is most likely to be fine, just delete the file if it's suspicious to you.
