Do you have it plugged in? When mine's running on battery, it hibernates after only like 30 seconds of idle to save power.

Does it turn off inspite of whether its plugged into mains skill? If its on mains, and the battery is bumped off does nevertheless turn off? once you're saying "turn Off", do you mean the working device shuts down properly, or does it in simple terms pass ineffective at once? Batteries are basically reliable for some hundred cycles i think, so in case you drained it and charged it daily for 2 years, i would not be suprised if the battery become nearing the tip of its existence. verify the battery meter (domicile windows XP meter or the only that got here such as your computer utility/drivers) to work out how charged it quite is and what subject it quite is in. in case you battery has a splash button on it with lighting fixtures fixtures, charge it up, then verify to work out that all of the lighting fixtures fixtures illuminate (verify manuals for precisely what the lighting fixtures fixtures mean, oftentimes charge and/or subject). verify that the fan is going and that air is popping out the "exhaust" once you turn the computer on. you will discover CPU temp reporting kit on the internet. If the CPU temp is over approximately 60 stages celcius, you're maximum possibly in challenge (esp if the fan isn't blasting out air). some followers basically come on whilst they sense a definite temp, so in case you may shop it working long sufficient you may confirm if this occurs.

It could be due to overheating. Check that all the fans are working, and that the heatsinks are free of dust. Keep your laptop on a hard, flat surface and not on a cushion or other heat absorbing surface.

1) Chech the battery
2) Check how hot the case is - are you over heating
3) Do you need more ram to allow the startup programs to run
4) Go to symantec's website and do a virus scan

If these do not fix your system you may have to reformat the hard drive.

my dad's pc did this. does your laptop restart after it turns off. if so that's a sure sign that the fan that keeps things cool is broken and will need to be replaced.

could be a problem with the battery pack does it work ok from the mains supply, i would also advise doing some virus scanning and spyware scanning.

What make and model? Does it feel very warm? Often computers randomly shut down if they are running too hot.
