Computers & Internet - 16 September 2006

All of my fellow students use them because of the medical software that is available. I have a computer at home so a pc on the go isn't necessary. I just want something that can hold a lot of medical software and informatiion and maybe calendars and appointments. any suggestions?

I am trying to clean up my comp, and found a few trojans which I manually wiped from my registry, since my virus scanner was not picking them up. But the problem was not solved. I went into safe mode, and attempted to run the virus scan through their. About 5 minutes into the virus scan, my laptop shut down. Not a restart. It just powered off.

I tried to go back into normal windows mode, and halfway through the windows XP screen where it shows the little loading indicator below the xp logo, my laptop shut off again.

I tried several times to boot it up, and kept getting the same problem.

Safe mode however works, which is what I'm using right now.

Finally I tried to do a system restore, and guess what. The laptop powered down as soon as I hit the Ok button for the restore.

So there's my problem. Pesky virus, no way to find it. Laptop keeps powering down when I even attempt to do so. Any tips before I have to reformat?

I read about this person several years ago when I was learning Windows programming and Visual C++. He was on vacation in Tahiti or Fiji and the idea came to him as he was lying on the beach one morning. This was in the mid to late 80's or early 90's.

I'll be doing random thing on my laptop without it even being unplugged and it will just turn off. Any idea what's causing this? It's really annoying and happens a lot when I'm importing CDs to iTunes. Could it be caused by low disk space because I have very little disk space messages pop up a lot.

i have 4 hdd on my pc :) 2 SATA and 2 ide , my ide drives dissapear and not all the time come back :( only sometimes (like when it wants to) is there anyone out there to help me fix this just like jim'll fixed it for loads a people lol, im running xp pro and tried new ide cables too that didnt cure it either and also just done a clean install ok sp2 :( help anyone lol

do they know they're blocked.. like if they try and send you a message does a warning or something come up.. or does the message just not ever go out or get to em.. and what if they put a comment on your page does that get automatically dleted or stays up unless you delete it
