I work for technical support and it never fails, whenever a customer calls in, they lose all knowledge of how to use their computer. How do they function every day without technical support on the other end of their phone?

Not trying to offend anybody, and I'm sorry if I did, I just don't understand that as soon as technical support picks up the phone customer no longer understands how to turn the computer on

I also work for technical support and I am constantly amazed at the variation in knowledge of PCs. Most lusers (and that IS the technical term) know the basics - turn it on, start up email, send an attachment, make a Word or Excel document. Then they know the exact steps needed to do their jobs, nothing more. Once lusers stray outside of their job expertise, they are lost.

But, no matter what happens, a luser will always say there is something wrong with the system, and usually hand you some lame reason it won't do whatever they want it to do.

That's what u get paid for, hun. Unfortunately, some ppl have cranial blockage. However, I suspect that the major reason is just pure laziness, or lack of motivation to research the matter on their own w/the vast resources available to them! Maybe u just need a vacation, a break from the grind.
