I've had that happen to me.....You start the computer, it starts to load Windows, the Windows page illuminates, then suddenly your monitor goes blank, you hear the crackle of your CRT powering down and then your computer......THEN it turns back on and starts the cycle all over again!! If that's what you have been experiencing, you will have to "REPAIR" Windows....Just put your Windows disc in as soon as you start it up, select "Boot from CD" and then select Repair when the CD spins up.
If you can't get it to "Boot from CD" you have to access your Bios setting during start up and select it as the 2nd drive to look at during startup.

yes i think also maybe the power supply i cooked once by putting in too many devices without keeping an eye on the total watts i was using up, and remembered a problem like this. also if the machine bios battery goes flat but i think that when that happens by memory it doesnt boot at all. hard drive giving up the ghost i think opens up the bios setup screen on bootup by memory. depending on what version of windows you are using and whether you crashed the computer while shutdown in the dos enviroment can cause the computer to startup in the dos enviroment and load the faulty program and crash again. but in this case you would see dos being loaded which will give you chance to hit excape key to cancel and go back to windows. you could try unplugging from powerpoint for 10 seconds which may help.

Your power supply could be bad or there may be corrupt files in the operating system or a virus. Chances are it is the power supply.
