Who envisioned the MS Windows messaging architecture?

I read about this person several years ago when I was learning Windows programming and Visual C++. He was on vacation in Tahiti or Fiji and the idea came to him as he was lying on the beach one morning. This was in the mid to late 80's or early 90's.

MS = Microsoft. I read of this person in a windows programming book, and the section where this person was mentioned dealt with the messaging architecture and how messages were called from the stack, and how they were prioritized. It was early in Microsoft’s existence and he was an employee of the company. Unfortunately, the book has been discarded – and now I need the information.
