I'll be doing random thing on my laptop without it even being unplugged and it will just turn off. Any idea what's causing this? It's really annoying and happens a lot when I'm importing CDs to iTunes. Could it be caused by low disk space because I have very little disk space messages pop up a lot.

It could be due to overheating. Check that your fans and heatsinks are clear, and try to keep your laptop on a hard, flat surface. Also, check the power port. Through much use, the power port on my own laptop has become rather dodgy. Pulling the wire a certain way disconnects the power supply causing the laptop to shut down as the battery is knackered.

Frequent Shutdown:

Make sure you use a Surge Protector.

This kind of problem is often hardware
related though not always.

Could be a power supply problem.

Could be other hardware problem.

Sometimes the motherboard, RAM, or the
video card causes this type of problem.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS flash
and device drivers.

Could be getting too hot also.

If you are running XP disable

Disable Automatically Restart
in Settings for Startup and Recovery
under Advanced tab in System Properties.
See Control Panel.

Next time it happens look at Event
Logs to see if a reason shows.

If you are getting a STOP message you
can probably find some help here,

Sorry, wish there was an easier answer
there isn't "one size fits all!" Kind
of like the car problem that never shows
up when you take it in for repairs.

Have fun but be safe!

Do you have a Mac or PC? I know that some MacBook users have been experiencing their computers turning off at random moments. If this is the case, take it to an Apple store or call them to have it fixed for free.

Overheating - CPU fan might choose a sparkling. Open up the case and view, notice this might invalidate your guarantee so examine if there are stickers on the sting of the case. A blowdryer will help, might might desire to unplug the fan and sparkling it if it rather is too dusy!
