The majority of the wires will only plug into a single port on the back of your computer, so you cant go wrong. The few that can be plugged into multiple places are usually colour-coded to prevent mistakes. For example, stereo speakers (two speaker set) usually have a green plug which goes into a green port.

1. Identify the power cord.
2. Connect the monitor to the video out on the back of the desktop. The connections are pretty much one way so you can't make a mistake.
3. Identify the keyboard cable. The connector should be color coded to match to a similar color jack on the back of the desktop.
4. Identify your mouse cable. This connector is also color coded to a similar color coded jack on the back of the desktop.
5. Connect the speaker jacks to the speaker jack on the back of the soundcard on the back of the desktop. This is also color coded, but is usually the speaker out jack on the soundcard.
6. Connect the printer cord to a USB port or parallel port on the back of the desktop. You didn't identify what kind of printer you have if any.
7. Plug in the power cord. It connects one way to a 3-prong on the back of the desktop. Plug it into AC power. Turn on monitor (you did plug in the power cord of the monitor to AC?). Turn on computer. You're good to go.
--I'm surprised it didn't come with instructions. Sure you didn't get it black-market?

What brand/model of desktop? Most include instructions bundled with the computer on how to set it up.
