For a while my "a" drive did not even show up in the my computer window. I did a disk clean, virus check, and defrag and it came back, but now all the disks read as not formatted. What could have happended! Can we ever get the data off those disks?

I answered a question earlier and clicked a link in one of the answers and contracted the exploit virus....luckily my antivirus caught it and my machine did not crater....I personally believe the person that did this should be removed from any and all Yahoo forums and other public places....this is just wrong in so many ways....

Is it better to leave laptop on(standby mode or hibernation) or off? I heard that turning it on and off repeatedly is actually guite detrimental to the components of the lap top. I keep asking but get mixed respnonses.

i have wireless router (linksys) that has a cable (comcast) internet chord attached to it which is then attached to the back of a desktop computer -which is not mine- and then i have a laptop which receives the signals and gets perfect reception

my question is if i buy a desktop comp for my room, can it also receive signals from the router or do i have to get a pc that specifically has a wireless card integrated in it? So i would have 3 computers running of of it, and the router has a max of 4 possible. If that method does not work, is the only way i can get access from the internet my room which is in a separate room from the router by running an extremely long extension chord from my internet port to the router?

i have an ibm computer with windows xp that used to belong to a college. apparently to ensure that students didn't mess things up they have some sort of security feature that resets everything when the computer is restarted. i can't make any changes or even install new programs without them being gone with the next reboot. anyone know how i can dissable this? i'm thinking that maybe if i reinstall windows? don't even know if that will do it, and even if it would, i could prob buy another good computer for the cost of a windows cd. any suggestions?

Ok a few days ago weeks...i had themexp or stylexp...I uninstalled it after the trial period ran out...ok normal but i ahve 6 account with guest. and after uninstalling it i think one of its theme is perminitly on all of the names but 1, I don understand why, instead of thoose big button to close minimiz and expand theyare really samll and tiny, i tried playing around with display properties, but when i select a new theme it says loading new theme but the theme doesn't show instead i still see the tiny buttons, IDK why it does that I can't put a background or anything, anyone has a clue why it did that or how i should solve the problem...? plz urgent

I'm about to buy an laptop (HP dv9000t/z)...
the 9000t comes with Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor up to T7200 (2.00 GHz) and the 9000z comes with AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Processor TL-60 (2.0 GHz).

I want to which one is better for multi-tasking, gaming, and hosting game servers. Please Advise. I'd appreciate!

I am considering either Toshiba M105 - s3041 or Sony VAIO S600/b, the toshiba one is on sale for 500 dollars and the Sony Vaio is on sale for 999 dollars, please help me decide which one is better. The toshiba one has an option to upgrade to 1 gb ram.

Below, is a small part of a script I'm working on. I'm trying to get the script to paste at the text selector indicator inside a textbox, it pastes great except it only pastes at the end of the text already in a text box. can you figure out how to change the script to make it paste where I want it to paste? okay i have the total training dvd with my purchase of the adobe creative suite2 premium and they did not answer my question.........after i changed my units to inches in the indesign program it displays the width as 8.5 with like 50 different numbers after the 5 as well as the height and the margins they have more numbers than needed and i do not want that can some on help me please

When I play a game like Trickster Online, Titan Quest, and Albatross18, after awhile there will be this lag where everything on my screen stops. Then everything turns black. But I can still hear that the game is still running. I am then force to restart my computer. How can I fix this?
