I work with computers, and often help my friends out when they need some computer work done -- but more and more friends of friends are getting referred to me.

What is a good amount to charge for stuff like this?

Should I charge hourly?

An example is, right now a friend of a friend needs a PC and a laptop wiped and re-installed. Should I ask for a set price, or give an hourly price? If I should give a hourly price, what is a good amount to charge, and is it proper for me to give a time estimate? Because that's another problem I have -- I am horrible and "predicting" how long something like that will take.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Atm looking at options by Norton Internet Security, however want to know if any other product would give equal or higher rate of protection online. as i say am looking for Anti Virus and Firewall protection. :)

I am building an online catalog website for a furniture company. When I put 72 res pics on they look like crap. Is 150 res too high? Will the pages load painfully slow with 150 res? What size in inches should I save my pics to for website?

I have found the upgrade to CS2 on the Adobe website for US $499. Is there a cheaper price to buy this software? Would it be cheaper to buy a very old version of PhotoShop, install it, and then install the normal upgrade?

I have a Logitech camera, which works fine until I try to use it on msn. Msn just signs me out and I can't get back on unless I restart my pc. It happened with another webcam I had and only got this one because I thought the other one was faulty. Any help would be great

I have dvd shrink and nero and am trying to burn a dvd. I select to burn the disc through dvd shrink but just as its about to copy it tells me it has to be a dvd+r disc. I am trying to use a dvd-r disc. Is there anything I can do to change the settings of nero so it will burn onto a dvd-r? Or does it depend on the dvd burner I have on my pc? It is just a region 2 copy I want so why does it have to be dvd+r? It's driving me mad! Can anyone help!

I'm receiving error "cannot find your scanner. You may have a scanner connected to your PC, but HP PrecisionScan LT was unable to locate it". I am running Windows XP. I downloaded the drivers for Windows XP from HP website as well as the patch for this error. The cd that came with the scanner is only compatible with Windows 95 until 98. I have unplugged the scanner from the PC and unplugged the power several times to no avail. I have also, uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times. The scanner did work in the past using XP and also, the last time I used it, I got it to scan two pictures before it wouldn't scan anymore. Does anyone have anyother suggestions?

To call someones pc is it better with skype or yahoo with voice. The connection is awful with Yahoo. Does anybody else have the same probs with yahoo messenger? Also the person i invite to view my webcam, crashes my computer..Any ideas?
