I'm receiving error "cannot find your scanner. You may have a scanner connected to your PC, but HP PrecisionScan LT was unable to locate it". I am running Windows XP. I downloaded the drivers for Windows XP from HP website as well as the patch for this error. The cd that came with the scanner is only compatible with Windows 95 until 98. I have unplugged the scanner from the PC and unplugged the power several times to no avail. I have also, uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times. The scanner did work in the past using XP and also, the last time I used it, I got it to scan two pictures before it wouldn't scan anymore. Does anyone have anyother suggestions?

Sounds like you've done all the right things. The only other thing I can think of is to try another cable or try installing the scanner on another computer to see if it works on another computer. Or, try connecting to another port on your computer.

Oh, and if your scanner uses the "brick" type power supply transformer that plugs into the wall socket, I'd try using another power supply transformer.

Have you recently downloaded or updated Real Player? If so, uninstall it, and that should solve your problem.
We had same problem with our Olympus digital camera.
Real Player inhibits the scanner/camera wizard.
