A friend sent us a DVD from Australia. Our DVD player won't let us view it. Is there an easy way around this?

No there isn't.

You'd have to either to import a region 4 DVD player, or download software that will play different region encoded DVDs (but there are limits on those too).

Normally it works if you install a firmware for your DVD driver. It will usually reset your region settings. I think you can also update your driver and it might reset it.

Go to Control Panel, then systems. Then go to your hardware device manager. Find your DVD driver on the list and go to its properties settings. There should be an option to update your DVD driver. Another option is you might want to disconnect it and then connect it again, and then you can use your Windows recovery CD to install it again.

Use DVDShrink30 to "backup" to your HDD. Run DVD X Ghost prior. Then burn to a DVD.

If you want to play it in your pc dvd drive then download & run DVD Region + CSS Free.

DVD X Ghost make your pc DVD drive region FREE!

Well, I dont know about your DVD player but your computers DVD (if you have one) can be changed. Also if you have a PS2 (playstation) you can change the settings there.
