I prefer using Skype as I find that it is clearer and the webcam seems to be better too (fewer delays). But then, I have not used Yahoo! voice for sometime now. I only use Yahoo! and MSN messenger for typing chats with casual acquaintances and Skype to talk to good friends.

If you have high speed internet and a very decent computer, both programs should work very good. Does your computer have at least 512MB memory, Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon, CPU over 2 gHz? In addition, what kind of sound card do you have? Do you have the latest version of Yahoo messenger and fine tune the audio and video? Hardware is also an important factor when using PC to PC to communicate.

Hi,
For what you asked for (calling a PC or landline), Skype is a better software solution. Skype uses P2P technology to provide calls that are equal and many times better than cell phones. In fact, we use it here in the office and most our calls are crystal clear.
If you have a solid broadband package, you will be beyond happy with Skype.

residing house windows stay messenger is extraordinarily good yet considered one of my prominent all time messengers is Trillian. Trillian enables you to connect basically about all the messengers at the same time astra, objective, yahoo, icq, residing house windows stay, google talk, jabber, myspace im, or maybe facebook chat/status messages and inbox junk. it does some stuff with skype and twitter that i'm unfamiliar with and another issues with irc and bonjour. It additionally has some preview ideas for digital mail with bills like gmail yahoo hotmail and objective etc. determine you verify it out!

Skype's voice quality is far better than Yahoo's.
But it's messaging sucks, and you have to deal with unsolicited messages from weird people on a daily basis.

I have used both - yahoo im and skype. skype is better - nicer voice quality and less choppiness, dropped words.
