Are there any other safety features that protect drivers/passengers in head-on collisions other than the seatbelt and airbag?

2007-12-11 13:27:40 · 2 answers · asked by vincentduntknowu 1

I rear ended someone going about 50, and my airbags did not deploy, because of this I now have minor whiplash, and some bruised ribs from being throwing into my steering belt. Its a complicated accident, it wasnt really my fault, I didnt get to brake so my seatbelt did not lock up either.

Should I try to make a case against my car manf.? Is it worth it? Would I even have a case?

If it matters, I only hit them on the right half of my front end, not then entire front end.

I tried to help her jump start it but it was completely dead and the car is very old and a piece of junk.It was left on someones property but their house was very far from the car and the car was not blocking anything like a mailbox. We had no other place to put the car.I guess they have the legal right to tow it but i think that was pretty messed up what do you think?

Why when on a bus in an emergency for instance you ghave to smash the glass - to get the hammer that allows you to smash glass... irony.

My mums partner was reversing up his driveway (which is steep and slightly blind at top. You need to reverse hard up it then stop at the top near the road to check for cars before you leave it of course

When he looked at first it was all clear, and he reversed up, as he got to the top near the road he hit a guys car who was stopped still right in front of the driveway. (parked close to gutter on road- but across the driveway!)

Who is in the right/wrong. Is it not illegal to park/ stop right in front of someones driveway? And this guy was not driving, he was stopped, close to gutter at the top.

We're in Australia.

Any opinions or legal knowledge/road rules would be great! Thanks

If a car equipped with airbags is in an accident that definately should have sety off the airbags, but they don't deploy, how can I find out if it was a mistake of the car company or if somebody prior to use owning the car had them disabled? The car went over an embankment into a tree and is literally totalled, but not 1 airbag deployed.

Besides the fact that they may or may not save your life, are there any studies of the effect of car airs bags on people in car accidents? Because when that white fluffy thing pops out of the the car steering wheel, it can cause whiplash in the neck and some physical ailments.

Have you ever noticed that people lose 1 or both shoes when they are in an accident even if they are boots or sneakers and they are tied? I've seen accidents where boots/sneakers still tied are no where near the person...why does that happen?
