well their is the young people that are just get their license and think its all a game until they crash just look on the news those kids in that brand new BMW M5 that crash and killed them selves or those dome kids in their Honda's that try to speed around and think they own the road. then their is old people wile some of them drive very well even better than some middle aged people their is still a large number of old people that should NOT be driving like the ones that drive very slow and cant stay in their lanes or the ones that can't make a turn with out going 5 mph. And isn't it funny how they pick those old Caddy's and Oldsmobile's they are tanks and that just makes it worse for the other people. They have way too much power under their foot and they cant see over the steering wheel. I think that both elderly people and new drivers should get a test every year to prove their able to drive a car.

Age actually has little bearing on accident rates...statistics can tell you almost anything you want, pointing the finger at under 25s and over 70s.
The facts are a little different. If you are to have an accident during your driving career, it is most likely to occur within 2 years of passing your test, irrespective of your age. hence the Pass Plus Course to help overcome this, and the 6 penalty point rule for your first 2 years.
As most people pass their test under 25 years of age, then these tend to rack up the accident figures!
As for the over 70s, their figures are vastly inflated not because they have more accidents, but because they are more likely to sustain injuries from even minor accidents becuse their bodies are more frail, so proportionally more accidents are recorded.
There is always more to statistics than appears on the surface - dig a little and discover the real truth.

Hello,
(ANS) Its a well known statistical fact that the highest risk age group of drivers for serious accidents & deaths on UK roads is, males between the ages of 18 to 25 years old. This is solidly confirmed by both police & the insurance industry, & this is why insurance premiums are so astronomically high for this age group.

Once i would have said the much younger generation. But after being in Tesco's car park i changed my mind.We did the shopping bit last week and was stopped on the way out by an absolute wreck of a car in the car park.An old woman was sat behind the wheel ramming this car parked in front of her. She reversed, taking the car with her. Drove foreward and smashed it up again, and again, and again. Both cars were right offs. When the owner of the other right off turned up she admitted that SHE couldn't drive on her own either and had parked wrong in the first place. Two complete write offs in a supermarket bloody car park.My hubby took the original old lady to customer services and she had no idea at all what the hell had happened. Totally oblivious. No idea. Cabbaged. But hubby being responsible for cutting people out of cars all his life managed through police response and RTA (road traffic accidents) to get the two old dears banned from driving for the rest of their lives. What would have happened if these two had've been on the road? This old lady must have been 90 if she was a day. Someone could've died if it was on the highway. As for the other..."my husband died 6 months ago and i can't drive on my own. " ?????? Whats she doin driving on her own?

It is mainly 18-25 year old lads who cause more accidents on the roads today this has been proven by police. That is why the insurance for this group is high.
