I own Maruthi Alto LX. Is it safe for the Engine and gear transmission to drive the up hills wid the gear in 2nd level? continuously? If not, What are the precautions to be followed? So let me know the steps to drive the vehicle up hills in a safe way.

Some hills are so steep that the ONLY way to get up is to gear down.

The trick is to slow the car down BEFORE shifting to a lower gear, so as not to race the engine. Gearing down also means slowing down.

It depend how high the hill is. Just listen the engine voice and pay attention to the traction of your car. RPM will tell you when to change your gear. If it is stop and go traffic than you need first gear than second. if not than second gear will do. Going on with high gear continuously wont do any harm to your engine, unless you will pass the red light zone for that speed. Have a safe trip!

No problem with the transmission, but if you have to ask such questions, I'm not sure it's safe to allow you to operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway.
