Globe and Morning Pride have the best in my opinion. I've worn both and have been pleased with the durability and protection of both manufacturers. If I had to narrow it down to just one though I would say Globe.

To be honest, I can't remember the last structure fire I've been to. Must be at least 15 years now.
Best in the business then: Globe.
Which would be first on my list if I needed it today? Globe.
When the Navy finally modernized and they gave us something besides a WWll steel pot and a raincoat, who made it? Globe.

I forgot the makers of my gear but it is really nice even though its about 10years old. Well then again i have just finished fire 1 school today. and haven't fought any fires yet. Just do a search online or go onto Galls.com they have nice fire gear and other stuff for Fire Fighter, EMT and even police.
Hope this helps

I joined the local Fire Brigade in 1974.
Our kit for fighting fires was:-
Pair of rubber boots (no toe or heel protection)
Pair of clip on half leggings. (one for each leg that use to hang on your belt)
Fire tunic (Design dating back to before the war) with two rows of chrome buttons. When they got wet they just soaked up the water.
Leather belt with pouch containing axe (remember to keep polished and varnished)
Neck-silk - a square piece of cotton material you would place round your neck under the tunic to stop hot embers falling down your neck.
Helmet made of cork - very comfortable but next to no protection.
When I left the Brigade in 1999 we had :-
Full protective boots
Nomex fire trousers.
Nomex Tunics
Flash hoods (worn under helmet)
Helmet with built in visor
This was a major leap forward in protection. In 1974 we carried 2 breathing apparatus sets in a back locker on the fire truck. When I left the breathing apparatus sets were dedicated to each man and built into the backrest of the seats for quick deployment.
I still visit the Fire Station on a regular basis and do not reconise the kit worn today it has come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years.

once you're going into the academy, they're going to furnish all of that for you. often you get leftovers till you graduate. Then they're going to purchase you new kit or supply you a uniform allowance. in case you ought to purchase your own, get Morning delight.
