I was told the tires would be safe because they are steel belted and they hold air and have good tread. I have drove on them for a month now and no problem. I just saw the cracks in the spaces between the tread, and now I am worried. Understand the cracks are the spaces where you can put a penny between the tread to check to see how much tread you have. I suspect these are old tires and may have dry rot I do not know. I did not notice this when I first bought them. Is it true the cracks I should not worry about as long as the tires hold air? Also is it true the steel belts are what is holding the tires together?

From mums on the school run to juggernaut drivers, every day we all see dozens of motorists blatantly breaking the law driving one handed and holding a mobile phone to an ear. The police must see them too, so why it rare to hear or read of a prosecution ?

To increase the safety consciousness and improve the ability of novice drivers before we allow them on the roads by themselves.?
My suggestions:
1, negotiate width restriction at 80mph on the straight.
2, Corner just fast enough to make the tyres squeal.
3, Join fast traffic from a slip road without slowing the traffic or
causing anyone to swerve or brake.
4, An immediate fail if they break the 2 second rule for more than
three seconds.
Of course the first 2 will have to be tested off normal roads.

I totally do. I've seen numerous "close calls" with people talking on their cell phones. Whether they think think it or not they cannot fully concentrate on their driving when they are using a cell phone. I mean, they're putting peoples living in danger. Is it really that important that it can't wait until they've stopped? After all there was a time when people didn't have cell phones believe it or not.

I usually drive 5-10 miles over the speed limit. I only get in a passing lane to pass a slower moving vehichle and then I return to the slow lane.
I drive this speed because that's my personal comfort & safety zone.
Why then do I get dirty looks - the finger - honked at - flashed - and even tail-gated?

I'm 26 and in Michigan. I was traveling on a four lane highway with a left turn lane going eastbound in the right lane. I put on my turn signal and switched to the left lane at the same time that a woman pulled out of a store parking lot going left. I was already partially in the lane by the time I saw her pull out, and she even rode next to me (while she was in the turning lane) for a brief second, and then the side of her car up by the headlight hit my car by the back left tire. She claimed that when she checked before pulling out, the lane was clear, and she didn't see me even though, had she been looking a split second before, I was right next to her and she didn't stop. Though no ticket was issued, the cop said it was my fault and he doesn't believe that I saw her pull out of the lot. This was an older woman (in her 60's/70's) and she basically told me the cop would believe her over me regardless. I was told I had the right of way, so how am I at fault? I have a clean record, too.

I recently came upon a significant automobile accident on a rural but busy divided highway. Many pieces of the car were scattered on the road, and the car was totaled (front end collosion with embankment). Although it is unclear, the driver must have sustained some significant injury. The car was not on fire. My cell phone was out of range. Do you try to remove the body from the car?

the second time. Or am I ignorant of the major road safety improvements yaking on a mobile brings to drivers? Clearly lorry drivers find that a mobile is particularly usefull along side their wad of delivery notes perched on the steering wheel as they negotiate traffic islands.

I have a junior liscense and in PA if ur caught going 26 or over you get a 90 day suspension. I was wondering if it is even possible to go to court and get it taken down by like 3 mph to avoid the suspension?(standard error of radar etc.) I have no problem paying the fine and taking the points but the suspension is the only problem for me(although 180 dollars kinda sucks) -Thanks

i just thought about this driving down the road, and some jack azz was behind me, do they make the speed limit, just to protect you from driving to fast and wrecking, or does it actually save you gas also?

I'm rather confused, I've heard yes and no from many sources.

I've also heard that the most basic need for airbags is the electrical system, that I know you need. But still, will the airbags deploy when the engine isn't running?
