He had some money, old credit cards and his social security # in there! If one person got his hands on my fathers SS #, what damage could that person do?

Thanks.

This is a very similar situation from one I found myself in last year.
He needs to go to the S.S. office and file a lost card- they will flag his number incase it is used for any illegal immigration- also cancel all credit cards and put a chain on his wallet (or something)

I had the same thing happen to me. Only it was my pruse that was stolen by a known identy theft person, it had my social security card and my passport. I had to call the social secruity office and tel them to put security on my number. I also did credit checks just to make sure nothing was opening up under my name. I'm not possitive on what exactly all the damage they could do, but i'm sure the damage could be pretty bad. So I suggest calling the social security office of your city/state.
Good Luck!

That person could steal your Dad's identity. The fastest growing Crime in the USA Should not carry SS cards, and only one credit card. Lose your wallet, cancel those cards immediately.

Well you know what they say, you shouldn't keep all your eggs in one basket!
Why carry all that in one wallet?
