I was doing 75mph on a national A road early on the morning with very little other traffic.

First question: is there any way of getting out of the fixed penalty notice to save me getting 3 points?

Second question: I went to purchase a Snooper Sapphire speed camera detector at my local Halfords. Were I travel there are no fixed cameras, just mobile laser detector vans. The guy at Halfords basically said speed detectors do not detect laser cameras most of the time because the operator aims the laser at your bumper and the detector cant read it. Is this true? If not can someone please reccommend a reliable detector for laser speed detectors.

And no I am not a speed demon! Im a sensible driver.

Reading some answers in this forum, I need a double vodka first, before proposing to find a good life insurance. It is obvious some people have not the slightest idea of the consequences of their technical proposals. Many answers make evident their "mental fathers" have never worked as a mechanic, seen a technical university even from outside or still consider "screwdriver" a nice longdrink.

Some suggestions have a certain fun- factor, at least, others are simply a suicide manual.

Should there, therefore, be a previous online questionnaire regarding the person's technical/ mechanical knowledge, before being allowed to give advice, at least, in safety- related questions?

I drive in an area where there's always a lot of deer. Is there something that REALLY works that will stop the deer from jumping out in front of your car? I've heard that the plastic wind things that you stick on the front of the car don't really work. Does anyone use anything for avoiding deer (or any other animal) collisions - and if so does it work?

If you have, and can be candid about it, please describe what all happened.

Do you remember what you were doing before, during, and after the accident?

I've been recently hearing more and more reports on the news and from people I know telling me about someone who has been killed in a motorcycle accident.

I have also seen many videos (many of them I've seen on http://www.youtube.com) where the driver and/or passenger was not wearing their seatbelt and were thrown from their vehicle and or killed in a traffic accident. Many of these accidents are in large SUVs.

Is it worth the so-called "freedom" to take these risks?

I've seen more near fatal crashes and fatal crashes (mainly on police chases) than any other vehicle. On the road, I've seen more SUV's and minivans speeding and other forms of aggressive driving, when these types of vehicles are the least roadworthy when it comes to handling and most likely to roll over.

Why is there such a misconception among many whom drive these types of vehicles?

On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being perfect i.e. with no accidents or tickets).

Many drivers jump the signals, take their vehicle on the zebra crossing, take short-cuts and break the traffic rules, put-on the head lights even in good street lights, blow horns without any reason. Can all the readers stop doing this from today? Let anybody do this but "I WILL NOT DO THIS". Do we really achieve anything by doing this? Do we really save time? If not, let us stop it NOW.

If the speed limit is a problem then why should car be manufactured to go so fast?

Why do we have to pay speed limit, or radar ticket, when the manufacturer is responsible for manufacturing that engine. Italy and Germany have high ways that alow drivers to accelerate proprely and enjy the ride, but not England.

Imagine a world where the manufacture of your car would have to pay for your ticket because it has manufactured an "loose" product for the road.

When it comes to driving..how old is too old? Do you think there should be a state law requiring elder people to have their license taken away? Or should there be an actual test they must pass, just like first time drivers? What do you think?

I have tried calling the local DPS office but was put on terminal hold. I'm asking for 2 reasons:
1) I have a fire hydrant right outside my house (the only hydrant on my street) and if I have visitors they have nowhere else to park-my drive only accomodates 2 vehicles.
2) My office is at a 4 way intersection with stop signs AND a fire hydrant. I know there is a law stating the distance you must be from a hydrant but I can't find it, some of my customers have been given tickets for parking near the hydrant (the stop sign at the intersection wasn't mentioned in the citation) and some customers have never even been approached or cautioned by a Police Officer.
I really need to know so that I can post a notice in my office warning customers to park elsewhere-we have a car park but it's easier for customers (the lazy ones) to park at the curb and run in.
