Backwards. In fact all Air Force jets have the passengers facing backwards. If the plane were to crash, the seat would support the spine and neck of the passenger and absorb some of the impact, not to mention shielding the passenger from potential flying debris that comes down the aisle.

I can't be sure but it seems like sitting facing backwards would be best. Infant car seats are rear facing. You would be forced into the seat facing backwards rather than being flung forward, gathering momemtum before something breaks your acceleration.

Backwards, by far. Assuming that the seatback is high enough to fully support your head to prevent whiplash. All military transports use rear-facing seats for this reason. (Except for jump-seats where getting out through the cargo ramp quickly is the first priority.)
