Bull bars will protect your car, but probably kill the deer.
I simply slow down and keep my eyes peeled. You get to know where they might appear from. Write to your local council and ask them to erect deer fences along the road to stop them getting on to it.
Failing that, just drive carefully

There is something that you can get to attach to the front of your vehicle that will emit a sound to scare the deer away. Click this link, to take a look at the website>>
http://www.plowhearth.com/product.asp?pcode=117&cm_mmc=Tagged-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA When you see a deer along side of the road, just slow down, because the chances are there will be more in back of him. Keep watching for the deer, the first thing you will spot, is there eyes shining from your headlights. Your headlights blind the deer for a few seconds, and will likely cross the road in front of you. I used to teach friends and family members to drive, and one of the things I told them, is about the deer in this area, and if you see one crossing in front of you, and there is another vehicle coming in the opposite direction, do not swerve to avoid the deer, and cross into the other lane. You probably will have a serious accident, if you hit the vehicle coming from the other direction. Chances are better, if you strike the deer, instead of a head on collision..

High deer population around me also...have tried all the gadgets and none seem to really work.:( You do in time learn the most common areas that deer cross the roads...but its the one that crosses in an area not frequented that gets you. Look for the eyes and make sure you keep comprehensive insurance on your vehicle.

I just watch carefully. I live in a high deer population area too. (-:
You know if you see one deer, there's probably a few more with it that can jump out any second. Slow down and be alert. Also, around dusk is when they really come out to feed, so that's a time to be especially alert also.

I stay in Maine - take it from me. Deer's eyes reflect even as your headlights are one - consistently experiment the perimeters of the roads for a mirrored image. If that's daylight hours, it might want to be a lot a lot less complicated to perceive them, because highways regularly keep the woods a number of yards again. the most important element is to maintain at a threat-free driving p.c.. an extra 2d is all you want to maintain away from large hairy animals that may crash through your windshield.
