When i was a firefighter every weekend we would get several motorcycle accidents (weekend warriors) had them during the week and those for some reason the people were always died by the time we got there, rarely a dead on on the weekend... My nephew is paralyzed from about the nipples on down for a motorcycle accident.
I have seen a lot of folks dead or wish they were dead from not wearing a seat belt, cant remember if i ever got one that was thrown from the vehicle....I have done way to many accidents...
Personally i hate motorcycles, and i would never drive with out a seat belt on, but i prefer a bigger vehicle, i don't want to end up having to be cut out of a tin can if i ever get in an accident....

I have ridden a bike in Chicago traffic for years. I will not get into my car without fastening my seatbelt. Here's my reasoning. People think that because they are inside a car that they are safe. In some ways they are. But they tend not to be as attentive of drivers as they could be. When you ride a bike, you HAVE to be an attentive driver or YOU WILL BE KILLED.
Bike riders have a couple of advantages in city driving. One - the good riders are always planninf an escape route should the driver either ahead or behind them turns out to be an idiot. Bikes are great at accident avoidance. You can put your bike up on the curb (if you have to) and not kill a bunch of pedestrians.
Two - a bike can stop in 1/4 of the distance of a car. It's simply because it has a whole lot less mass to stop.
Three - Most bikes are kinda noisy (especially the Harley-type of bikes) so that drivers who might not SEE you can HEAR you.
Four- You don't get that false sense of security that somes with being in a car (Volvos excepted). I feel less safe in my sister's Miata than on my bike just because she thinks that she in invulnerable in a car that offers about ten cents more protection than a bike when that Cadillac is blowing through the red light.
Now I believe that after a certain age (when your reflexes are slowing down) you should sell the motorcycle. You have to be at the top of your game to survive in traffic and you don't get many second chances. Always wear a helmet.
And remember this. Professional drivers wear seatbelts.Don"t they know something that the rest of us don't? Seatbelts save lives. I can't imagine you are even asking that question. I grew up with cars that didn't even have them. I wouldn't go around the block without buckling up now.

I guess that depends on whether you wear a seatbelt and ride a motorcycle. How would you like it if somebody took your so-called "freedom" of speech away so you wouldn't make an A$S of yourself on yahoo answers?

Don't you DARE use the phrase "so-called" when you speak of my freedom.
Life itself is a risk. Which ones I choose for myself are just that - choice.
It is extremely difficult to have oneself thrown out of a vehicle. I have been in head-on accidents caused by other drivers where I would have been seriuosly injured if I HAD been wearing a seat belt.

Speaking for myself I would have to say anything to do with a motorcycle as opposed to an automobile would be more dangerous. On a motorcycle you totally are exposed.
