Pretty thoughtless, I agree, but most people are still kinda new to seatbelts. And what's the use of putting the kids in there if the parents don't buckle up? Everybody should be in those belts. :)
I was involved in a bad accident once where people were killed, and only one of the casualties was wearing a seatbelt. The rest were unbelted. My kids & I were buckled up, thank goodness.
When I was a kid (I'm 50), we rode to church in the back of a truck, and we had wrestling matches back there as we were riding. Imagine what a cop would think now if he saw that happening on the freeway! Whew!

Hi 4 years ago my son had a major car accident ,he did'nt wear a seat belt? He now has facial damage caused through hitting the hardshoulder on the M25 also he has damage his frontal lobe so he is forgetful , he used to look like David Beckham , now he has no self esteem and wants to die , so PLEASE wear a seatbelt , as his mother I suffer every day as the son that was mine died in the accident not only has his face changed but his personality is different too , please think of others when you put the seatbelt on , save them the distress my husband & I feel daily. My daughter and son in law have seen what not wearing a seatbelt can do , but still omit to challenge their children when they take their seatbelts off , the children are 11/7/4 yrs of age , all I get is a shrug of the shoulders as if MIND YOUR OWN?

This also annoys me. Living near to a school, I see parents every day with children in the car without seat-belts, or child seats that meet the requirement of the law. I have also witnessed a saloon car with, wait for it, two kids on the front seat, and SEVEN on the back seat! Most of these kid's did not belong to the driver, but the parents must have known what was going on. God help these children in case of an accident, the parents do not seem to care.

It really bugs me too when I see this.
It’s entirely possible the parents don’t know the kids are unbuckled; kids do have the ability to unbuckle themselves, the bigger ones do at any rate. Poor parenting could come into play, not wanting to fight with the kids to get them in seatbelts or something to that effect. It could also be an “Immunity” mentality; thinking that car wrecks only happen to other people, “it’ll never happen to me”. Why bother buckling your seat belt if you just KNOW you won’t be in a crash?

Some parents are in to much of a hurry to bother. Some parents can't be bothered to stop a temper tantrum when the child doesn't want to wear one.In other words their parental guidance for bringing up their children and their safety just isn't their. They are to rapped up in their own lives.

Get's me too! Kill them they will have more! I saw six or eight kids crammed into a hyundai a couple of days ago climbing over the seat backs. Makes me want to hold them at gunpoint until the police arrive. But that would be illegal like how they are in our country. "Sorry about the last comment" Americans are stupid too!

This kind of supports the theory of evolution.
If the parent is so dumb that they can't protect their offspring from the most preventable of threats to their life, then they get wiped out, and the gene pool is protected.
It's the same with crash helmets for motorbikes. If you can't see why you would need one then it's best you don't live to breed.

I hate that too...I think those types of parents are pretty stupid to not have the foresight that something might happen and that wearing a seat belt is for their child's protection.
