I have lost the key, and was told I cannot get duplicate of the key. I keep spare clothes and towel etc in the locker. I really want to get my stuff out of the locker.

Pay for a locksmith to open it. Then ask him to make the duplicate key at your own expense of course.
Sometimes, the workplace holds a master key that can open all the lockers on their premises. Find out who holds the key and can you borrow it or ask if they'll come open the lockers long enough to get your stuff out.'

Depends on the lock. If it is one of those Master brand locks, that is a shiny metal with what looks like layers of stacked metal plates, those are easy to pop open. That type of Master lock can be popped by striking sharply, but not too hard, with a hard object between the shackles, such as a small hammer. If freaks people out to see how easy this type of common lock opens. Otherwise a hanging lock can be cut off by someone with the right tools. However a lock that is recessed into the door may have to be drilled out.

usally your boss or the janiter would have a spare key that happened all the time to me in gym I would just ask the coach for the combiation
