its confusing, but help would be very appreciated......let's say i'm driving up to a T intersection, and i am on the road that is not the "through road". I stop (because there is a stop sign on just my road), and i signal left because i want to turn left. Then a car on the "through road" stops at their left turning lane (not because there is a stop sign like on my road, but because it is not safe to turn yet), to turn onto my road. When it is safe to turn, who should go first? me, who was the first one there; or the other person, because i should yield to the "through street"

And if so, why do you do that? Do you have any idea how dangerous that is? Not to mention annoying? Do you ever stop to think that there may children in the car and if their driver has to make a sudden stop, you could hit them and kill them? There is nothing I hate more than looking in my rearview mirror and seeing another vehicle so close that they look like they are in my back seat! BACK OFF!

It's nice to see that some posters "have" a conscience and that when their "joke" turns into a serious issue, they delete it.
The original poster vicki f posted it here, in the SAFETY section as opposed to the jokes section.
I've reposted it for posterity.

Answers:
Both old and young, do die (despite your declaration) and those that don't, have their lives irreparably ruined or go to prison, mostly because of accidents/incidents caused by irresponsible car drivers, whose lives are so crammed with activity, that leaving 15 minutes early is not an option.
This is NOT a good place to put your comment (joke) because safety is a very important issue to us drivers and to the industry as a whole. I, personally, (as well as mulitiudes of drivers and organizations) work very hard to be safe out there.
Thanks and I hear where you're coming from. It's a joke, but to some of us, it's not.

so i'm driving to church w/ the top down....

i notice a ford explorer keeping pace w/ me. i don't look and keep going. he's staying w/ me for a mile @ about 70 mph. i get tired of it so i speed up to 85 mph to pass him and in my rearview mirror notice he's still following. he catches up and paces me again alongside of me. finally i get tired of it. i jump in the carpool lane doing over 100 mph to get away and i notice he's still trying to follow me. he gets closer and i lose him jumping off the off-ramp.

i ask you why?

he didn't want to race me. i've raced others before and they've kept pace and tried to pass me. this guy just keeps pace. all my friends would have honked the horn or yelled my name or even called my cell phone.

what should i do if this happens in the future? what would you do?

can't they do the same for a passenger car for a 60 mph crash? I mean, don't the impact energies progress exponentially with increased speed, instead of in a linear fashion? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to make a regular passenger car so safe that in almost every case, it would be possible for a passenger to walk away from a 60mph wreck.

In England, walking to a destination is more dangerous than even cycling (which is five times more dangerous than going by car) because motorists have a habit of running them over in their vehicles.

At least 5% must suffer a head injury of some sort. Should they be made to wear helmets (I am not actually sure why?)?

The girl that hit us is at fault. She hired a lawyer, avoid all our calls, we're waiting for the police report. I believe that the officer would put her at fault. Should I still hire a lawyer? I've been having back pain and I'm really afraid to drive on the freeway now.
What should I do if I don't have good health insurance?

I'm just curious... which one would come out of a 40 mph side-impact collision better? Obviously, the Mini has airbags and the 1969 Camaro doesn't, but would good ol' American Iron compensate? Thanks in advance to all who answer!

All lights work outside and inside except turn signals, emergency flashers work properly inside and outside as well. Any ideas? it is on a 1990 ford taurus sedan. The windshield wipers also have a mind of their own, they work when they want to.

I do. my husband and my oldest daughter also do this. the lighter doesn't work very well in my car any more so i try and light the next cig with the last cig to avoid distraction. my son gets rides with his sister and told her that she shouldnt smoke while driving. she got mad at him. so she now closes all the windows and refuses to empty her ash tray. she tells him that if he wants a ride he must deals with her. my husband eats macdonals, smokes and talks on his phone while driving. he has gotten in too many accidents. i think he should stick with one or the other. do you smoke while driving?
