No. But its not a matter of age. If the requirement was 21, then 20 year olds would be doing all the crashing because of lack of experience.
Anyways, at 14 a kid does not have the strength or the understanding of basic physics to control a vehicle.

Well if we had 14 year olds making the laws then it would already be changed, but luckily for us we have persons of age in office. I think that 16 (what it is here in ohio) is a good age to start them out, they can get the permit at 15.5 and licence at 16, if they've completed a Driver's Ed Class successfully, but they still have restrictions. Now personally i wasited untill i was 18 to get my licence and in all honesty i still did stupid/wreckless things in my vehicles. 21 Would be a good age yes, at that age most are mature enough to not be wreckless while driving, but also that means that mommy and daddy would have to drive them around 3 years after they hit the legal age af consent. So to answer the question, no it shouldn't be lowered, i think it should be raised to 18.

I also say no. I'm a police officer and I will tell you teen drivers are almost as dangerous as drunk drivers for 2 reasons.
1. There is no muscle memory. When someone who has been driving for years needs to brake, they dont think, they just do it. 14 yoa children are still growing and they arent (as a whole) as large as adults yet.....
2. Teen drivers tend to become distracted more easily. Music, cell phones, friends.....I've spent several years cleaning accidents up and this is personal experence talking.
Good luck...15-6 isnt too far away!

I think the parents should mr in control. Many youths are very intelligent and mature at fourteen, whereas some arent it should be the same even for 16 yr olds. And people what are you talking about 21!!!! Thats way too old

No way, it should b raised not lowered. A very high proportion of accidents are caused by teenagers. Why make a bad situation worse?

Definitely not. At 14 kids are not mature enough or really able to focus enough to drive. 16 is bad enough.

16 is bad enough. It has been shown that most accidents involve 16 to 25 Y/O. I agree with most of the people that answered the age should be raised to 21. I also think it should be tied to their grades in school. They should be requiered to maintain a 3.0 GPA before being allowed to get license.
