I see cops do this all the time right before "sneaking up" on someone and pulling them over...so I figured they must be onto something. Unfortunately for them I have my own super powers that allow me to see them despite these otherwise amazing tactics.

What can you say to a police officer when he pulls you over for driving with headlights off?

Some gas stations and certain areas are so well lit at night that you don't really notice they're off (hey -- it happens) until you drive a distance.

Further to a previous question that i answered concerning speeding, i would like to know if there is anyone who has an intelligent and informed opinion on speeding. My answer to 'why do speeders drive excessively' was removed due to an apparent insult, but i think it may have more to do with the fact my answer had the most votes and someone didn't like that!

Think about the question carefully and don't just assume what you hear from government warnings is true. What sort of groups of drivers are the most to blame and what arguements are there for AND against speeding.

I'm not after short, pointless answers that have no experience to back them up.

I'll be interested to see how many proffessional drivers reply here. Sources would also be a great help.

Thanks.

I was hit by a cab driver pulling out of a parking space on the side of the street. He pulled out in front of me without checking to see if the lane was clear and I had nowhere to go. There was no police report filed at the scene and the cab driver is now disputing what happened. I don't know his side of the story yet, but I don't want to get the short end of the stick on this accident because it definately was not my fault.

It seems as though people are getting their licenses from Cracker Jack boxes in the past 5 years. Damn, if it's that easy, why do Police give out tickets at all?
I remember my test and the driving included your ability to "calculate", predict and execute.
Isn't that the formula? I took my driver's ed class over 20 years ago and this is how it is supposed to be.

I recently bought a new car: an automatic transmission. (2007 Corolla CE.)

1. When should I turn Off the overdrive; when should I keep it On?
2. At what speeds should I turn Off the overdrive; when should I keep it On?
3. On what type of terrain should I turn Off the overdrive; when should I keep it On (flat roads vs hilly)?
4. If I want “to get better gas mileage:” should I turn Off the overdrive; when should I keep it On?
5. If I “don’t want to burn out the transmission within 5,000 miles;” should I turn Off the overdrive; when should I keep it On?
6. Also: I’ve noticed that when I turn off the overdrive the RPMs jump up and when I turn it back on, the RPMs go down. How does this effect gas mileage and the health of the transmission? [Ok that’s the same as 5 & 6]

I have two friends who are trying to be helpful, but together, they have given me conflicting information to the point where I don’t know what to think! Can anyone please explain all this in plain language? :\

The car that hit me slammed on the brakes, skid for 100 +/- feet on dry pavement, and still hit me hard enough to spin my Chevy Avalanche around so hard that it knocked one of my tires off of the truck. How do I figure out how fast the other driver was going?

I'm a moyorcycle driver. On the street these days, people sometimes act like you are not there . Is this out of rudeness or has our society lowering the price of life at many levels ? I always drive like no one sees me and believe that is why I am alive. I have known several people killed on bikes and it is always someone turned in front of them. If you go to prison and they find out you killed a motorcyclist, you will not be forgiven. It is the same category as child molestors . Riding use to be alot safer. Is there anyone that wants to actually cut me off or pull in front of me out there ?

When I picked up my new car, it rained very hard on the way home. The dealer had put something on the windshield and the water run off so fast it was like it wasn't raining and didn't need my wipers at all. I have tried "rain x" and it helps but the best it does is collect dirt on the windshield. Anyone have any idea on what the dealer used or ayny ideas on what to use?

Four cars, each traveling in a different direction, stop at each stop sign at exactly the same time. Normally the person who arrives first has the right of way, but in this case they all arrived at the exact same time.

When two cars from crossing directions or three cars arrive at exactly the same time the car on your rignt goes first.

But, when four cars all arrive at exactly the same time everyone has someone on their right, sooooo who goes first????

my parents got me a new car and i was so exited to drive it i forgot my parking pass, in my other car. i was already half way to my school but i didn't want to get a ticket, so i drove back home to get the past.

on my way back to school it was like 7:40 then and middle school students where just starting to go to school and one of the areas that i drive pass is a school zone. well i was already running little late but i was trying to obey the speed limit so i only drove like one or two over the limit. and when i drove though the school zone the speed is 35 limit is and i drove 36 but like the light were flashing and i didn't see it which meant that i should have been going 20... well a cop saw me and pulled me over now i got a ticket... but that not the worse part i haven't had my license more then 6 months yet and i had a friend in the car... yeah pretty bad...

i called my patents and they were just really disappointed. i feel really bad. what should i do? am i a bad driver?

I left my car with the blinking lights on by the curb of a mall's parking lot for two minutes. When I returned, there was a ticket left that has no amount specified on it but it says :" the person described above is summoned to appear at court" for parking by fire zone. I had seen the police hanging around before I left but she didnt tell me anything. Is this a warning or a ticket

When traveling at 60-70 mph on highway if I hit a bump the front end shakes violently! Once the truck slows below 55 mph the vibration stops and the truck performs normally with no evidence of problem. I was following someone who wittnessed the wheels actually turning back and forth wildly while the steering wheel did not. I actually thought a crash was inevitable but was able to safely slow down till it stopped! After the first time this happened I Took the truck to a Dodge dealer who replaced the tie rod and intermediate shaft. 1 Month later it happened again and once again I took it to dodge who then identified a problem with play in the steering shaft. Dodge has not reported any other similar problems and I hope to hear from someone familier with this issue.

When you are a person driving in a car on a rainy day [or just after it has rained] and you see a very large puddle of water and a person walking near it, SLOW DOWN! so you don't splash them. How would you like it if this happened to you? Really is it to much to ask for one to be kind and thoughtless towards others?

I saw a motorist swigging a can of coke, smoking a cigarette and talking on his mobile phone. Then he put the empty can in the litter bin, stamped on the cigarette butt and put his mobile phone into his pocket before getting into his car and driving off.

I slowed 90% at a stop sign but didnt stop 100% because it was probably better to keep going. The pavement at the intersection is severly uneven because of tree roots, causing my car to bobble all around. I think that if I would have stopped 100% the car behind me, also bobbling, would have rear ended me. A cop at the the same intersection, who probably saw us bobbling there, pulled me over for failing to stop. What can I do? How much is the fine?
