Go 2 the dvla or post office and ask for a sorn form fill it in and give hand it in. if u have not been fined yet do it fast and you mite get away with it. fingers crossed.
You will have to get one from the start of feb if they have any left

I hate to say this (cos I empathise) but my mother called up the DVLA last year and the DVLA check the computers in the middle of the month so your fine is probably already winging its way to you.
I think the fine is about 80 quid (but this may be a random figure pulled from the messy mine of information that is my brain)

If you are going to declare that your car was off the road, bare mind that you may have been photographed during this time.
Where I live it is nearly impossible to do without tax for any period of time. You could walk out of the house and your wheel has been clamped, or you just get a fine through the post because your car has been photographed.
Good Luck
Jeanimus has decribed them perfectly!

If you dont pay it on time, they usually issue a fine (which may have gone to your last address)
If you drive without tax they can now impound your car.
If you want to say it was off the road, they will say you should have registered it as off the road.
They are like little rotweillers I think.
You may have to just take your chances, but Id check your last address for any mail from dvla.

It'll be a dasgrace if they fine you via the post without first asking for an explanation! that's the trouble with this dump now you're guilty till you prove yourself innocent no matter how much bother or loss of earnings it puts you through, while these little fat r'sed little dictators get well paid for gross stupidity and wasting public money, if a vehicle is on private land why should it need road tax.?.. road tax??

You are fined on two counts - no tax and not telling them you moved. Pay up and don't whine as in law it is all your fault as you are a big boy now.
