YES, i have notced that also, it is like trying to surf when you are getting off, it makes you feel so stupid sometimes, i look round to see if anyone is laughing at me, or looking all scornful like i am pissed at 3 in the afternoon!!(sometimes i am!!!)
i feel really sorry for the old folks, must be 10 times as hard for them.

i sometimes think that it is because i am not 15 anymore that my balance has gone! or maybe the drivers are not so good, they are not as polite as they used to be anyway!

What's 'jerkier' is the drivers! Years ago, someone wanted to be a bus driver & took pride in their work, nowadays any Herbert from the jobcentre with a driving licence can get put on a 2 week course to get a PCV licence.

The automatic transmission does play a small role into the equation... I find that people are so unwilling to let a bus merge back into traffic (even though it IS the law) that the drivers have to stop or suddenly slow the bus down and then start over again. Road conditions such as potholes shouldn't be a large factor due to the supple air ride suspension and length of the bus' wheelbase.

Bus drivers may seem rude due to the amount of stress and liabilty for your safety and that many other people are usually equally discourteous to them.

The bus drivers can't drive. The amount of times I've gone flying is ridiculous. I think they might do it on purpose.

Depends on who is driving - a professional bus driver who was trained before deregulation or a modern don't give a damn privateer.

It's the drivers they are bored and make the bus jerk so that you are thrown up the gangway when you get up to get off.

It's because they replaced the manual transmission with an automatic. therefore it jerks whenever it starts from a stop because it has so much torque.
